What's HOTROT?
HOTROT sambals and hot sauces are first and foremost about great flavour. Sure, we enjoy scorching our food-duct as much as the next guy or gal (or zombie), but why not have some nice flavour to go with it?
To achieve this, we use fermented peppers as the base for our sambals and hot sauces. Fermentation – a natural rotting process using the lactic acid cultures that live on the peppers – adds acidity, depth and tons of zing! Besides, it acts as a natural preservative!
Whether with a classic sambal, a zesty hot sauce, or a smokey BBQ sauce (coming soon!), HOTROT aims to deliver flavours that are complementary to the food you eat.
And yes, they can be mouth-scorching hot, but a great-tasting pepper is always at the base of it.
